Carmelo “Melo” Anthony played for only one season at Syracuse, but made his mark by leading the Orange to their first ever NCAA Tournament National Championship. He took the honor of NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player while posting 26.5 points per game in the Final Four. Carmelo’s college number was retired in 2013 and he was the last to wear 15 for the Orange. He was drafted third overall in the 2003 draft by the Denver Nuggets and was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. Anthony has been known as one of the best scorers to play the game and one of the hardest to stop on the offensive side of the floor. In the 2013-2014 season, Carmelo broke the Knicks’ franchise scoring record with 62 points in a performance against the Charlotte Bobcats. In the same season, Anthony went on to win the NBA scoring title and the MVP. He is a 10 time NBA All-Star who has made the All-NBA Second Team twice and All-NBA Third Team four times. In 2021, he was honored as a member on the NBA 75th Anniversary Team which recognizes him as one of the greatest 75 players in NBA history.
